ROUNDS 5&6 PROLEVEL RC ST LOUIS,MO
Drew Ellis welcomed the UF1 Midwest series to his reborn Prolevel RC facility for Rounds 5&6 and it didn’t disappoint.
Erik Wippler pilots an orange Jaegermeister liveried car in the UF1 Midwest series. But his dominance thus far in the series makes me wonder if he shouldn’t be running a silver paint job with a three pointed star on the airbox. Wippler arrived at Prolevel and quickly established himself as a threat on the freshly laid ozite. Jim Piersol and Skip Starkey made the trip form Carbondale and were immediately quick as well. In the 3 minute qualifier round Wippler claimed pole in a hard fought battle with Piersol and Starkey. After three intense 15 minute mains it was Wippler going wire to wire for a maximum points score. Starkey and Piersol rounding out the podium. Brad Palmer finished the day in fourth tied with Chris Lockhart in the points.
Sunday dawned and saw Wippler back up Saturdays performance with another pole.
As the groove came in the pace picked up quite a bit and the racing was fast and fierce. Wippler showed the way to the podium, with Starkey 2nd. This time Jim Huggett found his way onto the podium with a strong 3rd place run after Piersol encountered mechanical issues.
Overall a great weekend of racing at a great new facility. Drew has put together a great venue and we hope to return there for future events. Next up: Hobby Stop West in mid January.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL !!!!!!
